Aalayam believes that every child should have the opportunity to receive a quality education and we always work towards that.
We were referred to this student, who is struggling to get a basic level of education (10th std) from a school in the outskirts of Chennai. We found from our review process that the family has three daughters and the student is the eldest. The parents are trying their best to provide them with a good education.
The family went through a time after the civic corporation removed the small roadside food centre, which they were running earlier. The student’s father a tailor. As they are uneducated, the mother and grandparents work as domestic help to contribute to the living expenses.
We have come to know that the student has been sent home from school for three consecutive days for not paying the fee of Rs. 8700. Please support this first-generation learner to help her continue her education.
